Hotel history:
- 1986: Marion and Dr. Manfred Maus spend their summer vacation with their two young daughters Annette and Isabel at Manfred's parents' home in Pirmasens. On this occasion, they become aware of a large hotel in Dahn, which is only a few years old but has been empty for a long time. Marion, whose parents used to run a guesthouse with a café in the Westerwald, is immediately impressed by the hotel's great location. Manfred has known Dahn and the many old castles and bizarre rocks around Dahn since he was a child. They both quickly agree: "We'll buy this hotel. It will be our life's work.
- 1987:
At Easter 1987, the time has finally come. The Hotel Pfalzblick with its 76 rooms and 13 employees opens its doors. The rush is immediately unexpectedly great. More team members are quickly recruited. - The first years:
Marion and Manfred had imagined their dream of a beautiful vacation hotel in the Palatinate to be very different: The hotel was mainly frequented by conference guests and business travelers. There were also hiking groups. But the main thing was that the hotel was well received. - 1992 to 2000:
Marion Maus runs the kitchen herself. What was initially only intended as a temporary solution was very popular. Guests are delighted with the tasty cuisine. - Mid-1990s:
More and more vacation guests discover the amenities of the hotel and the wonderful surroundings for themselves. At this time, the Pfalzblick already has 4 restaurant rooms, from 1997 the beauty farm, which is still leased until the beginning of 2003, and from 1998 the cozy fireplace meeting place and the particularly popular winter garden. The number of conference guests and business travelers decreases. Vacationers now determine the atmosphere in the house. This made the young Maus family happy, especially as the four of them enjoyed spending their own family vacations during the school vacations in the then leading vacation hotels in the Black Forest, Upper Bavaria and the Allgäu. In addition to the wonderful vacation experiences, they also brought home some valuable ideas for their own hotel. - 2001:
A trip to Tyrol opened Marion and Manfred's eyes. Wellness is now the motto, which encompasses everything that is beneficial and relaxing. Now it goes from strength to strength. Vitality world, whirlpool, relaxation zone with a view, sanarium are created. - Since 2003:
The famous Alsatian maitre affineur Bernard Antony is responsible for the perfect cheese enjoyment. During a visit to Alsace, Marion and Manfred fell in love with his unique, perfectly matured French raw milk cheeses. Bernard's son Jean-Francois Antony is now the maitre affineur responsible for the wide range of cheeses at the Pfalzblick. - 2004:
The beauty center, which has been run independently since 2003, becomes increasingly popular and has to be extended by 5 treatment cabins. - 2007:
Isabel returns from a one-year stay in Montreal/Canada and joins her parents' business. She later completes a Bachelor's degree in hotel management in Freiburg and a Master's degree in "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Tourism" in Kempten. She is thus ideally prepared for the management of the company. - 2008:
In 103 calendar days, completely new accents are set in the largest construction project to date at the Hotel Pfalzblick. The swimming pool is completely renovated. 2 new relaxation areas are created in the Vitalwelt. 8 rooms are given a new look. The Neudahn restaurant with 70 seats is added. The Wasgaustube now presents itself as a buffet zone in the style of an old Alsatian kitchen. The large panoramic terrace with 100 seats high above Dahn becomes a new attraction in the warm season. - 2011:
The main entrance is redesigned. And the newly added vinotheque is opened, where top wines from the region are available at farm prices. Regular wine tastings for guests have been part of the special offer at Pfalzblick from the early years until today. - 2012:
Better and better ... On its 25th anniversary, the Hotel Pfalzblick is classified as "4-star superior". Further certifications follow. - 2014:
A new room type in the garden wing, the Tanstein double rooms, offers even more comfort for discerning vacation guests following an extension and conversion. - 2015:
The Grafendahn restaurant is renovated with colorful chic. A new playground is created in the large garden paradise. And Isabel Maus gathers new impressions in Asia as part of her Master's degree. She not only learns about entrepreneurship there. She also discovers her passion for the ancient Asian relaxation techniques of the monks. Because it is important to Isabel that our guests can also share in this positive experience, the Pfalzblick will be offering a comprehensive yoga program from 2019. This is so well received that a state-of-the-art, professional yoga room is finally built in 2022. - 2016:
Our IdeenReich training room is modernized and brought up to the latest state of the art. - 2017:
The big anniversary celebration "30 years of Pfalzblick" makes it clear: for Marion and Dr. Manfred Maus with their daughters Annette Schröder and Isabel Maus, 30 years is just the beginning. - 2018:
A 1500 m² bathing lake with a 38m swimming length and sauna island, 16 new double rooms "Drachenfels", 6 family suites "Lämmerfels" and 2 penthouse suites "Traubennestl", further relaxation zones, a new spa bistro "Pausenraum" and a new restaurant "Wieslauterstube" have been created. The level of comfort has once again increased significantly. The coziness has remained. - 2019:
Marion and Dr. Manfred Maus have been waiting for this: Louis Schröder, their first grandson, is born. His brother Felix follows in 2021. Finally, in 2022, little sister Valerie also sees the light of day. Mom Annette is now fully challenged as "family manager". - 2020:
Isabel now joins her father as a personally liable partner at the forefront of responsibility for the hotel and its guests. This sets the course for the company succession. - 2021:
The "Wieslauterstube" restaurant is extended. The panoramic terrace on level 6 with its gigantic view of the Dahner Felsenland is also extended to over 400m². Below this is the new panorama house with relaxation zones on two levels. Level 4 is also the inner entrance to the new "Sprudelwoog", the outdoor hot pool with numerous bubbling attractions. But that's not all. The garden wing has been given a completely new look. The "Altdahn" double rooms will be replaced by the 14 "Lindelbrunn" double rooms, which are more than twice the size. In addition, five new "Römerfels" SPA suites and a "Römerfels" Family SPA suite are created. The hotel now has 86 rooms, including 12 suites. - 2022:
The next major construction project is carried out: A new, significantly larger kitchen is built, including the associated refrigeration and storage rooms. The restaurant is extended to include two further dining rooms - the "Wachtfelsstube" and "Essbar". The buffet area created in 2008 was considerably enlarged and given a new look as the "Genussmarkt". The hall, reception and administration are being remodeled. Much better working conditions and new social spaces are being created for employees. A new exercise room was also built for yoga, gymnastics, etc. in the weekly vacation program. Finally, a new bar is built between the hotel lobby and restaurant. - 2023:
The new staff canteen with adjoining roof terrace on level 7 above the restaurant is an expression of the special esteem in which the entire hospitality team at the Pfalzblick is held. The five years of construction and modernization work will officially end with the Pfalzblick Summer Festival on 17 July 2023. Over 400 guests will experience a lavish celebration on this day. - There is always a reason to celebrate: the Pfalzblick Wald Spa Resort receives the "LEADING SPA RESORT Rheinland-Pfalz" award as well as various other awards.
- Until today:
The property has expanded from 11,000 m² to 55,000 m², so there will still be plenty of opportunities for development in the coming years and decades when the young generation with Isabel Maus, M.A. and Annette Schröder, M.A. will leave their mark on the PFALZBLICK WALD SPA RESORT. - What will always remain:
