Neudahn Castle, an imposing ruin from the 13th century, is enthroned on a mountain ridge. Its well-preserved gates, battery towers, and shield wall still make it an impressive sight today.

The Altdahn Castle – spectacularly situated on a steep rock – forms the impressive Dahn castle complex together with the neighbouring castles of Grafendahn and Tanstein. It’s one of the largest castle complexes in the Palatinate, united on a single rock formation.

Lindelbrunn Castle Ruins

This picturesque ruin offers you a fantastic panoramic view of the Palatinate and is particularly popular with hikers. Combine your visit with a short shopping break in Hauenstein – the “Schuhmeile” shopping centre is just a stone’s throw away!

Berwartstein castle

Berwartstein Castle is an impressive medieval rock castle located in the Palatinate Forest near Erlenbach. First mentioned in historical records in 1152, it is now one of the best-known and most visited castles in the Palatinate region. It gained particular renown through the knight Hans von Trotha, who became a figure of regional legend under the name "Hans Trapp." After centuries of sieges, fires, and changes in ownership, the castle was rebuilt in the late 19th century. Today, it is the only permanently inhabited castle in the Palatinate, captivating visitors with its historic rooms, underground passages, and magnificent views stretching across the Wasgau region into Alsace.

Wegelnburg Castle Ruins

The ruins of Wegelnburg Castle – the highest castle in the Palatinate and a popular photo motif on the border with Alsace – offer spectacular views. Situated high up on a rocky ridge, it’s not only steeped in history, but also the starting point of the picturesque “Grenzgängerweg” cross-border trail. The Alsatian castles of Hoheburg and Löwenstein are just a stone’s throw away.

Trifels Castle

Trifels Castle awaits you on the Sonnenberg hill. This magnificent castle was a political centre in the Middle Ages and served as a prison for the English King Richard the Lionheart. Here you can immerse yourself in the history of the Staufer dynasty and imagine what it was like in the days of knights and counts.

Rock formations

The unique rock formations of the Dahn Rockland have been shaped by wind and weather over millions of years. Today, they’re considered landmarks of the region – impressive, photogenic, and full of stories.

Lämmerfelsen – directly visible from the hotel and can be reached on foot in approx. 15 minutes. Especially beautiful from the restaurant or the panoramic terrace.
Teufelstisch – only 6km away. The most famous rock formation in the Palatinate is said to have once served as the devil’s dining table (“Teufelstisch” in German).
Jungfernsprung – the 70-metre-high rock in the middle of Dahn tells a dramatic legend and is now a popular vantage point.
Braut & Bräutigam (bride and groom), Schillerfelsen, and Wachtfelsen – mystical and beautiful formations, just a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Climbing paradise – with 52 climbing walls, Dahn is one of the most popular climbing regions in Germany.
